Million dollar bridges benefit few

Hillsborough County, Florida - It is a popular 8 mile stretch in Hillsborough County. The upper Tampa trail attracts more than 12 -thousand people a month, people like Gerhard Mueller.

Gerhard Mueller, Rides the trail: “We ride the bicycles fairly regular except in the summer.”

Mueller and his wife load their bicycles into their van and pick up the trail just off of Waters avenue. They say it is one of their favorite things to do.

Gerhard Mueller, Rides the trail: “It's just fantastic, wonderful marvelous experience, good exercise, and just enjoyable.”

When the trail was first proposed the neighborhoods to the east were upset even though a canal separated their homes from the trail.

John Brill, Hillsborough County Parks Spokesman: “At first they were, we're bringing all sorts of strangers into the neighborhood, but I don't think that's a problem anymore.”
