The South Shore Marauders is a social group promoting the South Shore and supporting the local community. Founded in 2002, the Marauders participated in several local parades including the Gasparilla Childrens' Parade, Knights of Sant'Yago, St Patrick's Night Parade, St. Pete's Festival of States, and Bradenton's DeSota Parade. Our distinctive medallion features a pirate manatee with strings of beads hanging from its mouth. We gained fame in all the parades as the Krewe that gives stuffed manatees to the parade watchers.
In addition to marching in parades, we have held social events to raise money for a scholarship we will award to an East Bay Senior in 2004. We have also adopted Ruskin Elementary and will provide school supplies and tutoring. We also visit nursing homes in South Shore bringing smiles to folks with beads and manatees.
